PR-TF 83 Granadilla-Paisaje Lunar

PR-TF 83 Granadilla – Paisaje Lunar (Lunar Landscape)

This trail connects the urban center of Granadilla with the Cruz de Tea and the peaks of the municipality, reaching the viewpoint of Los Escurriales, also known as the Paisaje Lunar (Lunar Landscape). It is one of the derivations of the historical trail called Camino de Chasna, which connects the south and north of the island through Las Cañadas del Teide and was the main commercial route between the two slopes until the second half of the 20th century.

The products were transported by the arrieros (muleteers) across the summit, on the backs of mules, donkeys and even dromedary camels. The Camino de Chasna did not lose its importance until the 1950s, even after the completion of the Carretera General del Sur.

The trail climbs up to the high midlands and peaks by old bridle paths. During the route the views of the coastal area and the radical change of landscape when entering the Natural Park of the Corona Forestal stand out. Formed by forests of canary pine (Pinus canariensis), this crown surrounds the entire perimeter of the Teide National Park.
