The midlands of Granadilla de Abona cover a wide altitudinal range, between 300 and 1,200 metres above sea level, differentiated into low and high midlands at around 600 metres.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The hamlet of Las Vegas was the first settlement in the municipality after the Castilian conquest, established due to the fertility of its land and the availability of water.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Cereal was the basis of agriculture and food. In addition, other crops were introduced, such as sugar cane, the first export crop on the islands, and later tobacco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main population centres were founded here after the conquest of the island, and the new settlers settled in the best places for agriculture, with the availability of water, fertile land and important forest resources.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The natural caves became the first lodgings for the peasantry, but little by little humble dwellings and manor houses were built on the large estates and next to the village chapels.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The high midlands were the granary <\/em><\/strong>that fed the population of the south of Tenerife <\/em><\/strong>and, even today, they still conserve vital resources for the food sovereignty of the island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, food production is one of the greatest challenges of our time, especially in an archipelago that is highly dependent on external resources.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consuming products from our land means supporting the hands that grow them, preserving a unique landscape and building a more sustainable future for everyone.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The PR-TF83.2 is a short route that climbs up to Casa del Seco, where there is still a goat farm, and returns via El Molino, an old water mill whose origin is still uncertain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second is the PR-TF 83.3, a longer route that connects with the hamlets of La Higuera, Monta\u00f1a de Tames and the emblematic Pino del Guirre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
